Google Reader vs. Bloglines

I’m making the switch and so far, Google is winning me over. Bloglines is awesome, no complaints, but there is something different in the Google Reader U/I in terms of feed management that is making me happier.

We’ll see how it goes.

  1. Interesting. This past week I actually switched from Bloglines to Newsgator. I find it easier to read (font and colors) and I like the Ajax-y feel. I tried Google reader a while back and didn’t like that way it seemed to mix all my feeds and throw them in order. I like to read my feeds separately. I’ll be curious to hear what you think after you use it for a while.

  2. I’ve been using Newsgator and Google Reader side by side for a couple days now. I much prefer the Newsgator interface for cleanliness and readability.

My biggest issue: One the left side where the feeds are displayed, each shows the number of unread items in that feed. However, Reader does not clear that number unless you scroll through the items in the feed, whereas, Newsgator, like Bloglines, clears that number on clicking the feed. A small thing but it annoys me to have to scroll to make that number disappear.

I tried GreatNews also. I don’t want a downloadable app, and I also don’t think there is anything special about this one.
