Jet Blue Coolness

The flight home is delayed due to weather up north, so I checked out its status at Jetblue.com and found this — which for some reason I think is very cool and one of the most useful Google Map mashups I’ve ever seen.

This sort of says it all. No silence. No vague predictions of arrival. Just an icon of an airplane in range of the airport.

  1. That is cool. I remember flying Jet Blue to Orlando a few years back. They had a similar display on little screens on the back of the seats. I couldn’t say if this was affiliated with Google back then, but it was fun to sit and watch the plane icon slowly move–before and after the in-flight movie.

  2. I love tracking my flight as i fly between West Tedium and South Apathy. it gives me something to do. but most of all I love the concept of geopresence.

  3. In-flight maps are fun. Unless you’re on the Amsterdam to Cape Town for 12 hours and the damn thing seems to be crawling like a giant tortise over a map of Africa. An ambian and 3 vodka tonics is the only prescribed remedy

Check out flightview.com for more airport info.
