Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Widescreen: PC Magazine’s Editors’ Choice

Inside Intel’s New Centrino Duo and Centrino Pro (Santa Rosa) – Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Widescreen: Full Review – Review by PC Magazine

Nice to the lead the pack with this week’s new Santa Rosa announcements. Thanks PC Mag:

“Another year, another Intel launch, and another Editors’ Choice awarded to the Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Widescreen. Its main appeal is the outstanding performance ThinkPad users have come to expect (just be sure to upgrade your battery when you order a system). Overall performance and this laptop’s usability will keep businesses coming back for a long time.”

  1. I’ve seen a couple of posts regarding this and the R61 today and I have to say they look very very good.

Wishing now that I could come up with a valid excuse to upgrade my less than a year old R60e.

  2. Getting a T61 is a joke. I’ve had so many problems with my order. I placed the order on May 9th for shipment on May 28th. That date arrives and the status is changed to a ship date of Aug 30th. I then inquire as to what the delays are and was told they ran out of chassis’s. I then inquired about various options on my original order that were no longer on the lenovo site (Intel T7700 processor and 64bit Vista Business). The sales person tried to update my order but then it got corrupted because those options were no longer available which basically voided my original order that I was waiting 3 weeks for. Now I have to place a new order and the price is more expensive, I have to wait another 3 weeks and I’m frustrated.

I have ordered mine on 5/18 with ship date of 6/06/07. Let’s see if it holds the date or not. I think lenovo should offer free second day shipping to all affected customer whose ship date is delayed! without any extra charge. Why should every one has to beg for it? It wasn’t our fault! It was fault on part of lenono. I think this is sending bad reputation for lenovo.

I have ordered mine on 5/18 with ship date of 6/06/07. It didn’t hold. I got new date, 6/25/2007. The sales guy over phone (lastweek) told me it will be mid june (6/15) now this is end of june (6/25). Can’t believe.

This is weird now. I have ordered, my lenovo on 5/18 and people who ordered on 5/25, 5/31 got theirs. Is it a lotto system? David can u please take a look into this?

  6. David,

is it a coincidence that not a single T7700 models of T61 series has been out yet? And I MEAN IT – not a single.

Everybody (ever single CSR i called, Tim Supples, websales email) at lenovo keeps their mouth shut – for T7700. Why can’t lenovo come out and give us some satisfactory reason?

Is it too much for us customer to ask exact date – EVEN AFTER a month of wait ??

    David,
This is a pre-configured unit from Lenovo Outlet. Doesn’t require anything to be added or deleted, just wrapping and shipping. Why is that so difficult and time demanding??

This T61 was order on 10 October with an initial shipping date of 17th October. When the 17th came, it pushed back to the 23rd then the 29 and now 05 November.

Customer No-service is clueless!! Now, emails go unanswered!!! Should I check with Bill Amelio?? Perhaps, he’ll at least answer my emails.

Basically, I need to know that the order is still coming and I’m not just standing here holding up whatever needs to be held up!

Would appreciate some assistance in this matter and thanks for your time.

  8. T61 owners, do you notice faint horizontal white lines on your LCD? (less than a pixel)
Especially on 50% gray. (look carefully at the dark clouds on this website’s image logo)
