  1. The philosophy of crossfit, mirrors the TBP (total body punishment) that I use as my model on living my personal code that ‘The body is evil. It must be punished.’ Raw quahogs & good tequila, just taste a lot better, after you’ve lashed your physical core into a steaming, heaving mess. These personal tests only become more enjoyable as you able to make the examination harder. All rowers know what I’m talking about. Remember pain & hurl are just weakness leaving the body. Have you been training w/ “Ouchy the clown” again?

  2. Since you are digging CrossFit you might also check out Mountain Athlete in Jackson Wyoming http://mtnathlete.com/ they draw extensivly from Crossfit. Rod Newcomb, legendary Teton mountain giude and septuagenarian who still guides the Grand, works out at Mountain Athlete and told me he had to stop during guiding season because it tired him out too much!!!! They post workouts online. “If you want to work your core lift something heavy”. It is all about pillar strength. These types of workouts have really got me jazzed and fit.

  3. Look at today’s ugliness — “Murph” — named after a Navy Seal who died in action in Afghanistan. It was his favorite workout.

    Run a mile.
    Do 100 pull-ups (I can’t do one.)
Do 200 pushups (call me done at 20)
Do 300 squats (my knees will hate me)
    Run another mile.

Oh, and do it while wearing a 20 pound weighted vest. Murph did it wearing 60 pounds of body armor.

This I get to do in lieu of lunch.

  4. If I start now, I might be able to do most of the Murph by Memorial day…except for the pull ups, which ain’t happening no way no how.
