In North Carolina for the snow …

Snow in the south apparently causes total pandemonium so I came down to Morrisville a day early. I think there is one snow plow and there are already preemptive school closings and cries to batten down the hatches.

This ought to be interesting.

  1. You fell for it! We make a big deal out of it, because we don’t see it often. It’s an excuse to shut up shop and make snow angels. 😉

  2. I have noted a large increase in the number of pickup trucks on the road, and watched one almost wipe out behind me. I <3 NC

  3. When I lived in DC, it always cracked me up that as soon as the thought os snow became known…immediately they started closing schools, and people started to horde food! I was at the local Giant the day before we were supposed to get 1-3 inches, and the place was a mad house..people grabbing canned goods, bottled water etc..

FWIW – I grew up in Michigan

  4. I have fantasies about a freak snow storm dumping 4 inches on San Diego.

oh well it’s 75 degrees today in San Diego County.

  5. I live in Michigan now but grew up in Kentucky. The snow and ice removal system was “wait for it to melt.” It always was a gamble whether my brother would get to celebrate his Jan. 6 birthday at school. It seems like we’d come back from Christmas break for two or three days, then be off for two or three weeks. PBS stations started running “snow school” to try to help one year, but teachers for the lowest grades basically had to start from scratch like it was the beginning of the school year again.
