is vitrectomy. Noon at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Seems pretty interesting. Outpatient. Couple punctures in the eyeball. Drain it. Fix the tears with a laser. Refill with silicone. Inflate with a gas bubble to push the detachment into place and then six weeks of heads down posture to insure a good result.
Bottom line prognosis? Not going to be winning any gold medals in sharpshooting or hitting in the clean up position for the Sox. From what I can tell I will be able to see well enough to walk and not get taken out by a bus when I cross the street.
sounds unpleasant, but take it from one who knows: being able to see only 10 feet isn’t that bad.
in all seriousness, though, take care. if you need someone to text you sox scores, let me know.
Man, that sucks.
Get better. Take it easy. Recover as mandated.
Good luck with the surgery!
Good luck & prayers from Seattle…
And I thought my recovery from recent LASIK was a pain.
I hope it all goes well and the recovery smooth.
BTW. Does that head-plant device come with a neck and shoulder massage? 😉

Will be thinking of you all day today, Captain Clammer!
Have a geat stress free recovery!
Arrgh,

Good thoughts headed your way. After the surgery, will you be able to use your eye as a racquetball?
Eeeeww. Dude, I hope you are getting bulk discounts on surgery! Don’t shortcut the recovery on this one.
Feeling for you.
Wow … when you do it, you do it.
Don’t do what a normal guy would do. DO WHAT THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU.
Off my soapbox now. Hope you’re feeling better.
