Bike Rides

Bike Rides

yes, I used to be an avid cyclist and put in at least 200 miles a week on my trusty fixedgear or Colnago. I loved to ride but then, over Memorial Day weekend, 2006. I was hit by a car, bike was totaled, head injury messed me up (wear your helmet, I was, and I still was injured). Anyway, I used to map my rides around Cape Cod, so, if you are here looking for routes in the Upper Cape area, here are some. I would say the “Cape Cod Metric Century” below is one of the best rides on the planet. Seriously.

  1. nice. I found a Gary Fisher mountain bike in the dumpster at work, and fixed it up for about $100. Works great on my occasional jaunts to Point Pinole regional shoreline. I also found a dumpstered Roll Fast cruiser bike that I’ve rehabilitated with white tires, chain and spray paint from the local 98 cent store. Not bad for a brief ride down memory lane to the liquor store. I ride over the tracks, past Pick N Pull, recycled metal yards, and take pictures of humming birds around abandoned nursery greenhouses. Some kids with spray paint cans chased me on a rather rough section of the San Francisco Bay trail, stealing my bicycle and returning it after deciding it wasn’t worth taking I suppose. Such is the value of what I call urban camouflage (spray paint)–a rat bike’s best friend.

I’d like to get a 29er some day. I wonder what your opinion of these is.
