I think this is the painter I have heard a lot about over the years. Falmouth-based. Died 1940.

I think he died when he realized the toredo worms he was peering down at in the firfst painting had chewed clean through his hull as seen in the scond painting.

I have several of his works…he is one of the documented Great American Artists.
His works are on display all over Boston, I believe there is a library in Mass that many of his works were donated to, my father is a Churbuck, (as I am) Most of his works are watercolor, though there are a few oil paintings. Many of his works have sold for quite a bit of money. Plus it’s just cool to have someone in your bloodline be a great American artist.
