In my 20s, spent a couple of wanderjahre in Perugia and Rome. For music, suggest the late Fabrizio de Andre, a kind of Italian Bob Dylan meets Van Morrison. Maybe Robert Hellenga’s wonderful book “Sixteen Pleasures” about the mud angels of Florence in 1966. Then doing the exact opposite.
