Time lapse shipping

I found this time-lapse video on gCaptain.com, one of my favorite nautical blogs. This was made by a Houston Ship Channel pilot, Lou Vest (who is an amazing photographer) by setting a Nikon D300 to take a photo every six-seconds.

  1. I agree — it’s quite cool. Ironic though that had he used a video camera/flip cam and only filmed the trip in, it wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting.

It’s the time lapse that makes it killer.

  2. This is great. The steam and the lights at night make it look like the objects on the docks are on fire. The people on running around at the end on the boat are pretty cool too.

  3. Reminds me of that scene from apocalypse now.

was he carrying a puppy under his coat?
