Firefox crashes

Anybody else experiencing an inordinate number of lock-ups and crashes with Firefox 2.0? Thankfully the new version as a great session restore function that brings back the last state, tabs and all, but I’m crashing two, three times a day, usually on sites with flash ad banners.

I was digging through my server log files last night and found a ton of errors which I am trying to debug today, plugging nagging holes such as the lack of a favicon and robots.txt file.

  1. David, I’ve been using Firefox 2.0 all week, with several extensions for tabbed browsing and blogging (and including some of the tweaks to the about:config mentioned at LifeHacker), and have not seen this issue yet. Send me some logs if you’d like me to take a look.

  2. i definitely am. i was hoping it was because the Ubuntu builds were a day or behind final, but i haven’t seen anything come through final. FF is still locking up for me multiple times per day. was going to write that up today.

  3. I have been using it as normal (on both mac and pc) and only had one freeze up thus far…not to say there isn’t more to come

  5. I suggest starting with the –safe-mode option and seeing if you still have difficulty. If you don’t, it could well be an extension problem. For me, I found that Colorzilla was a culprit.
