ImageThief clued me in to the impending end of my favorite China blog — Talk Talk Chine — a nasty, snarky, anonymous slam on life in China from a western pov. On Saturday it goes dark. I’ll miss it. There were moments of high humor from TTC.
“The time has come to say goodbye. In the 1.5 years that TalkTalkChina has been up and running, we’ve had our soapbox to complain – and complain we did. This blog was set up because we just needed to get things off our chest and validate our frustrations. You have helped us do just that!”
David,
Great link – just visited TTC. Interesting site – too bad I’m tuning for the swan song. I loved the re-use of the pictures with a new story line – or could well have been the factual one. One of the things that struck me about this site was the way in which the commenters carried on conversation threads, even ones off the topic of the original post through the comment chains. This began to take on the characteristics of a forum rather than a blog.
Does the blog then become a virtual coffee shop for regulars to hang out and have a conversation? People may show up for the original post, then stick around for conversation through the comment mechanism. Something to ponder – not sure where that leads.
